B.J. Fogg, Ph.D., directs research and design at Stanford University's Persuasive Technology Lab, which develops interactive technologies aimed at motivating and influencing users. Under Fogg's direction, the lab is currently conducting the Stanford Web Credibility Project to better understand what factors influence people to believe what they find on the Web.
An experimental psychologist, Fogg teaches courses in persuasive technology at Stanford and is on the consulting faculty for the university's School of Education, where he teaches graduate seminars in the Learning, Design & Technology Program.
In addition to his Stanford work, Fogg is the senior director of research and innovation at Casio's research and development center in Silicon Valley. In that role, he leads Casio's U.S. efforts to create next-generation products. Previously, Fogg led innovation efforts at Hewlett Packard's HP Labs, Interval Research, and Sun Microsystems.
Fogg holds several patents, and his work has been featured in Business 2.0, Wired News, The Washington Post, ID Magazine and The New York Times.
