Nicole Spelhaug is the Chief of Product Development for MayoClinic.com. She has been on the Mayo Clinic staff since 1979.
Early in her career, she recognized the potential of mass media to positively affect people's health through the dissemination of credible and useful information. Since 1982 she has made that her passion. Spelhaug began her career as a writer then editor for Mayo Clinic's first consumer newsletter: Mayo Clinic Health Letter. As senior editor for new product development, she developed the editorial component of MayoClinic.com's syndication program for AOL and Walgreens.com, acted as the Mayo Clinic editor for the Mayo Clinic/Williams-Sonoma Cookbook, and developed the publishing model for the Mayo Clinic Women's HealthSource newsletter.
As chief of product development for MayoClinic.com, Spelhaug aspires to bring Mayo Clinic's knowledge and experience to the millions of people who visit the site each months, and whose health depends on the credibility of the information they use.
