Tom Eng, VMD, MPH, is CEO of Healia, Inc., which has developed a next generation health search engine. Eng is an expert in eHealth product and strategy development, and the application of emerging technologies to health care and public/population health. He is also President and Founder of EvaluMetrix LLC, a health technology strategic consulting and software company, and the eHealth Institute, a nonprofit organization that explores ways to use emerging technologies to improve the health and well being of all people.
He is chair and founder of the renowned eHealth Developers' Summit; Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Washington; a judge and mentor for the Global Social Venture Competition; a judge for the Siemens Westinghouse Science, Technology, and Math Competition; a member of the National Advisory Committee for the Health e-Technologies Initiative, and an advisor to several nonprofit and commercial ventures.
Eng has authored or co-authored more than 100 peer-reviewed articles, books and book chapters, and abstracts on a wide range of health and technology issues, including the landmark books, The eHealth Landscape and Wired for Health and Well-Being. Eng is an associate editor of the Journal of Health Communication and on the editorial board of Internet Healthcare Strategies.
He has worked previously at the US Department of Health and Human Services, the Institute of Medicine, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Peace Corps, the US Senate, and two state health departments. In addition, he has provided health-related consultations in more than a dozen countries on six continents. He is an alumnus of the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard University. |
