| Jim Isaak is a consultant to the Institute of Electronic and Electrical Engineers (IEEE) and is an assistant professor at Southern New Hampshire University.
Isaak is a senior member of IEEE and has been involved in several of the group's efforts, including chairing an IEEE working group to develop a set of recommended Internet best practices. These standards are intended to improve the Web engineering process and make Web pages more accessible to consumers. Among the issues to be addressed are intellectual property concerns, accommodations for disabled persons, and privacy.
The author of more than 40 articles - most of which have focused on open systems and information infrastructure standards efforts - Isaak also was a member of the W3C (Web Consortium) Advisory Committee and the board of directors for the National Information Infrastructure Testbed, which is now known as InfoTest.
He has worked for Digital Equipment (now Hewlett-Packard, Compaq), Charles River Data Systems, Intel and IBM.
Isaak studied at Stanford University, where he earned a B.S. in computer studies and an M.S.E.E. in computer engineering.
