John Hawks is executive director of the Consumer Travel Rights Center, a national non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and expanding the legal rights of travelers.

He has served as president of the Association of Retail Travel Agents and senior vice president of the National Tour Association.

His books include For a Good Cause? How Charitable Institutions Become Powerful Economic Bullies (Birch Lane Press, 1997) and Traveler's Rights: Your Legal Guide to Fair Treatment and Full Value (Sourcebooks/Sphinx Legal Publishing, 2003).
